Odette Howarth is a Wildlife Technician based at SNCS. Odette supports all marine teaching and research activities within Massey University, including that of CERG, especially in relation to post-mortem examinations. In additional to her technical role, Odette is also undertaking a her PhD part-time under the supervisor of Dr Adam Smith. Her research uses non-invasive stereo BRUVs (baited remote underwater videos) to gather information on the community structure, abundance and diversity of shark and fish communities in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. Her research will be used to pinpoint areas of high biodiversity and understand the current state of fish communities in the Hauraki Gulf and to monitor the effects of the incoming SeaChange spatial plan - Tai Timu Tai Pari.
